Nursery Room Essentials: Diaper Change

When I was putting together our nursery, I spent way too much time researching every little item—especially when it came to diapering. I knew I wanted the space to feel calm, clean, and functional... and most of all, I wanted to make those 2 a.m. diaper changes as smooth (and quiet) as possible. After a lot of trial and error, these are the diapering essentials I truly swear by. Each one has earned its place on our changing station—and I wouldn't do without them!

Leander Matty Changing Mat

I can’t say enough good things about the Leander Matty. It’s sleek, cushioned, and ridiculously easy to wipe clean (no laundry piles of covers = huge win). It doesn’t shift around while I’m using it, and it’s soft and supportive enough that I feel totally comfortable changing baby on it multiple times a day.

Momcozy Baby Wipe Warmer

This is one of those things I didn’t think I needed—until I had it. The Momcozy wipe warmer keeps our wipes the perfect temperature, which is a lifesaver during middle-of-the-night changes. No more cold wipe surprises that leave baby screaming and wide awake.

Diaper Genie Platinum Pail

We’ve been using the Diaper Genie Platinum since day one and it seriously keeps the nursery smelling fresh. The hands-free design is super convenient (because let’s be honest—diaper changes are already a two-hand job), and it holds a surprising amount before needing to be emptied. It’s one of those low-effort, high-impact items I recommend to every new parent.

Pampers Swaddlers Diapers

We started with Pampers Swaddlers in the hospital and never looked back. They’re soft, super absorbent, and the wetness indicator has saved us so much guesswork. I also love how well they fit—no leaks, even overnight.

Pampers Complete Clean Wipes

These are our go-to wipes. They’re gentle, effective, and don’t leave any residue behind. I keep packs stashed all over the house and in every diaper bag. Bonus: they’re thick enough that I never have to use a million per change—and they don’t stretch or tear when you’re pulling them out of the wipe warmer (which was surprisingly hard to find!). They come out cleanly one at a time, which helps so much when you’re mid-diaper change and only have one hand free.

Eucerin Aquaphor Baby 3-in-1 Diaper Rash Cream

This has been a total diaper rash lifesaver. We use it at the first sign of redness and it clears things up quickly. I love that it’s a 3-in-1 formula—soothing, protecting, and treating all in one tube. And one of my favorite features? The packaging. The smart applicator tip means I don’t have to use my fingers or a spatula to apply it, which is a game-changer during messy diaper changes.

Touchland Hand Sanitizer

Changing diapers = a lot of handwashing and sanitizing. I keep a bottle of Touchland sanitizer right at the changing station. The spray format is so convenient—it’s quick, clean, and easy to use with one hand. I use it right after changing the diaper, before heading to the washroom to wash my hands. It gives me peace of mind that I’m not transferring anything around the house in those in-between moments. Plus, it smells amazing and doesn’t dry out my skin like most sanitizers.
